Best Shoes for Zumba

If you are looking to find a new and inventive way to workout, then you can’t go wrong with Zumba. This fun exercise style combines catchy Latin music with aerobics to create an exercise routine that lets you have fun and burn weight at the same time.

However, there is a caveat to all of this, which is that you do require a good pair of Zumba shoes to properly take advantage of the exercise.

Good shoes for Zumba aren’t particularly difficult to find, but it never hurts to have some help, which is the purpose of this article. We are going to be doing reviews of some of the best shoes for Zumba that we can find.

If you want to skip all of that and just buy something, we would say to buy the Zumba Air Classic Remix Shoes.

Ryka Influence Cross Training Shoe

For the first review on our best shoes for Zumba list, we are going to be doing a review of the Ryka Influence Cross Training Shoe.

Since this is the first review on our list, you may be curious why this isn’t specifically a “Zumba shoe,” which do exist. Well, there isn’t anything about Zumba that requires a specialty shoe.

Zumba, much like many other aerobic styles, requires a certain type of athletic shoe, but you don’t actually need to buy a specifically made Zumba shoe.

That is why we this first review is of a shoe that is technically made for cross training; and trust us when we say that this is a very good shoe overall.

The first thing that you should note about these shoes is how good they are at absorbing impact. We know that this sounds like something that is relatively unimportant at first but trust us when we say that this is easily the most important thing to look for when it comes t Zumba shoes (or really, any sort of athletic shoe in general).

Zumba isn’t too intense of a sport, but it does generate a lot of force, especially when you get to the really intense part of the workout. So, having adequate impact absorption is crucial for reducing pain and soreness.

Just in general, the Ryka shoe is also very comfortable, which is obviously always a bonus when picking out an athletic shoe. It fits nicely on your foot and it provides a good amount of cushioning, so there isn’t much to complain about on this front.

Now while these are very good shoes overall, we do have to admit that they have one problem that, while not damning, is somewhat serious.

Those of you who have worn athletic shoes while doing a serious workout before probably know how annoying it is when your shoes don’t let a proper amount of air in, since this leads to overly sweaty feet and all the problems that come with it. The best way to counter this is by investing in shoes that offer an adequate amount of breathability. Sadly, these shoes aren’t all that breathable. It would have been really nice if they were designed to let a bit more air in, but they just don’t do that. Like we said, it isn’t a fatal flaw, but it is certainly disappointing.

  • Pros
  • Soft and comfortable.
  • Lots of good cushioning.
  • Easy to slip on.
  • Great interior design.
  • Cons
  • The shoes don’t really let much air in.

Zumba Air Classic Remix Shoes

The next option that we want to review on our best shoes for Zumba list are the Zumba Air Classic Remix Shoes.

Those of you who are paying attention might notice that these are actually the first shoes on our review list that are specifically made for Zumba, as opposed to just being general running shoes.

While there are plenty of other really good shoes on our list, we must admit that we find it difficult to recommend any shoes more than the Zumba Air Classic Remix Shoes. They are just so extremely well-made and excel in almost every facet. They are truly some of the best shoes that any Zumba athlete can have.

A big part of the reason why we are so incredibly fond of these shoes is because of just how supportive they are. As you have probably already gathered from the other reviews on this list, it is extremely important for anyone doing Zumba to get shoes that they can trust to keep their feet safe when doing workouts.

In this regard, these shoes do very well. They are built to keep every muscle in your foot supported and safe from dangerous impact when working out. What’s more is the fact that these shoes also support your ankles, so you are really projected from potential injury. These are some of the best shoes to go with if your main goal is preventing potential workout-related injuries and soreness.

One problem with these shoes has to do with their weight. Because of the size of these shoes and because of the general way that they are made, they happen to be quite bulky, especially when you compare them to some of the much lighter options that we have reviewed so far on this review list.

While this doesn’t make them unusable or anything like that, it does end up being somewhat annoying and it takes a bit of time to get used to.

  • Pros
  • Provide much needed ankle support.
  • Really protect your feet from injuries.
  • Help to prevent post workout soreness.
  • Shoes are surprisingly comfortable to wear.
  • Cons
  • Do feel like they are weighing your feet down.

Skechers Flex Appeal 2.0 Sneaker

The next review on our best shoes for Zumba list is the Skechers Flex Appeal 2.0 Sneaker. This is yet another shoe that isn’t necessarily designed from the ground up for Zumba.

None the less, they are still pretty well-suited for Zumba for reasons that we will be explaining in our review. To give you the short explanation, these are just incredibly well-made, comfortable, and supportive shoes. They keep your feet and ankles comfortable and protected when doing Zumba, which is ultimately all that one should really be looking for when it comes to picking out shoes for their Zumba classes.

There are a lot of really good things that we need to mention about these shoes, but let’s start with our personal favorite feature (although this is a minor one, we admit), which is how easy it is to slip these shoes on.

Like we said, we know that this is minor, but we do love how easily these shoes slip on. There is no resistance or fighting whatsoever. This makes them an extra good option for people who struggle with mobility or anything like that (and a lot of said people do Zumba to help with their mobility issues, so the pairing makes sense).

Another reason why we (and others) love these shoes is because of just how comfortable they are. They are made from this super soft material that fits nicely on your feet. At the same time, they aren’t so soft that they end up not being supportive. They still provide more than enough support for your feet.

One issue with these shoes that we do want to comment on before we move on has to do with the fact that at the end of the day, these shoes aren’t all that durable; meaning they can get worn out quite quickly.

Now, we do want to be careful here because what we are saying does need a bit of nuance. See, the shoes aren’t cheaply made by any stretch and they aren’t going to be worn out after a few months or anything like that. At the same time, they aren’t going to last you nearly as long as some of the other entries on this list, especially if you happen to be doing Zumba classes a lot during the week.

  • Pros
  • Soft shoes that are super comfortable.
  • Slip on easily.
  • Not too pricey.
  • Cons
  • Shoes aren’t designed to be very durable.

Slow Man Jazz Shoe/Sneakers

For this next product review, we are once again taking a look at some shoes that, while not explicitly designed for Zumba still happen to be an amazing choice for anyone who is interested in trying out this great exercise routine. Also, despite the name, these Slow Man Jazz Shoe aren’t actually designed for men, but women.

So, given that these are called “jazz shoes,” you may be curious what exactly it is about these shoes that make them well suited to being reviewed on this article.

Well, for starters, there is the fact that these shoes are incredibly supportive, especially around the heel. As you are able to see for yourself, these shoes have larger heels than your average workout shoe.

This may seem like a bad thing to some but trust us when we say that this is an incredibly good thing. That extra bit of heel helps to provide vital protection against the impact you create when you do a typical Zumba routine.

However, the real reasons to give this shoe a try are its weight and breathability. Firstly, the shoe is made from this super light, mesh material. We aren’t exaggerating when we say that wearing this shoe on your foot is like wearing almost nothing at all; they are that light.

This lightweight, mesh design has another benefit, namely, breathability. These shoes allow air to flow easily in and out of the shoe. We haven’t discussed breathability much on this review list so far, but it is actually quite an important concept when it comes to athletic shoes. You want your feet to stay nice and cool when working out and having breathable shoes accomplishes that.

  • Pros
  • Breathable mesh design.
  • Reinforced heel for extra stability and support.
  • Super lightweight shoes that are perfect for Zumba.
  • Cons
  • Admittedly, they are a bit cheaply made.

Zumba Energy Boom Athletic Shoes

For the final review on our best shoes for Zumba list, we are once again taking a look at some shoes that are specifically built from the ground up for the exercise routine in the form of the Zumba Energy Boom Athletic Shoes.

Those of you who have read all of the other reviews so far might recall that we reviewed some dedicated Zumba shoes earlier and spoke quite highly about them. Given that these are from the same manufacturer, you can expect to see the same sort of quality, and we are happy to say that these shoes don’t disappoint in that regard.

It is hard to understate just how supportive these shoes are. Those who read our last review of these shoes from the Zumba brand will know what we mean.

These shoes are just designed very well. They have a ton of support that is specifically located in both the heel and sole area, so your feet are very well supported when doing your workout.

These shoes (along with the other Zumba ones that we reviewed) are perfect for those who are doing extremely fast Zumba workouts or particularly intense ones. Unusually for athletic shoes, they also provide a lot of support around the ankles because of their high-top design.

There are some issues with these shoes that we need to mention before we finish up this review section. First off, there is the price of these shoes. While they aren’t extremely egregious in terms of price (they cost about $100), they are the most expensive option that we have reviewed so far on this list. The second thing that we have to mention is that these shoes do suffer from the same issue as the other Zumba shoes that we reviewed, which is that they are definitely a bit heavier than we would like.

  • Pros
  • Very durably designed shoes.
  • Provide ankle support due to high-top design.
  • Very supportive of your feet in general.
  • Great for intense Zumba workout sessions.
  • Cons
  • One of the pricier shoe sets on our list.
  • Still very bulky and heavy.

Buying Shoes For Zumba: A Short Guide

In the next part of our article we want to do a short guide that will explain both how we choose which shoes to feature above and what you should be looking for when it comes to picking out shoes for doing this exercise.

Weight

Zumba is a very fast paced exercise, anyone who has done it before can tell you this. It is definitely not an exercise routine where you want to feel weighed down.

That is why one of the top things that we would caution you about when it comes to picking out shoes for Zumba is the weight of the shoes. You want to make sure that the shoes that you end up going for are very light.

This way, when you go to do your Zumba classes, your feet don’t feel overly weighed down by your shoes. We know that this doesn’t sound like a big deal or something that is super important from the outset, but it really does make a major difference when you actually use some proper lightweight shoes for the first time.

Breathability

Those of you who read all of the reviews on our best shoes for Zumba list will likely recall that we talked about the concept of breathability, which is closely related to the weight of the shoes.

For those who missed this in our reviews, the idea is quite simple. Nobody likes having their feet feel overly hot when exercising (or ever really). The one sure-fire way to protect against this is by investing in some shoes that let your feet breathe.

You can usually tell if shoes are going to be breathable based on the material that they are made out of. This is why shoes that are light also tend to be quite breathable.

Support

As we said way back at the start of this article, and as we will say again now, Zumba is not a dangerous sport or exercise routine in the slightest. In fact, it is probably one of the safest (not to mention most fun) ways staying fit. However, anytime you do any sort of rapid movement, you generate what is called “force.”

This force isn’t particularly dangerous, but if your feet aren’t properly cushioned, it can cause issues like soreness, muscles injuries, and possibly worse. This is why you need shoes that are, above all else, supportive.

Conclusion

Those of you who still happen to have some follow-up questions can leave them as comments down below. We would also appreciate it if you took some time to leave is feedback on our best shoes for Zumba list.
